NameWheel

    How NameWheel Selects an Entry

Spin the wheel to display an entry from the list you provide. These details explain how the wheel behaves and what its visible result does not prove.

    How the wheel works

Each item in the current list is drawn as a wheel segment. The app divides the wheel into equal-sized segments and maps the final pointer angle to one of those entries.

The browser runs the spin animation and chooses its angle using JavaScript's Math.random(). This describes the current implementation; it is not an independent statistical audit.

Entries remain on the wheel after a spin. Choose Remove in the winner dialog to take an entry out before spinning again. On the main wheel and Classroom Name Picker, this also removes other text entries with the same value; the Giveaway Picker removes only the selected line.

    How to read the result

A repeated name or option creates a separate entry each time it appears. The wheel does not identify people or merge duplicate text before a spin. Removal behavior depends on the tool: the main wheel and Classroom Name Picker remove all matching text entries together, while the Giveaway Picker removes only the selected line.

The visible wheel shows the list entered and the result displayed by the app. It does not verify the source or eligibility of entries, independently audit the draw, or create cryptographic proof.

For a drawing that requires independent certification or a particular legal process, use a service and process that meet those requirements.
